Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about how Roamania works and where it comes from.
What is Roamania?
An independent, interactive map of Romania's nine historical regions and their castles, fortresses, monasteries, and hidden gems. See the About page for more.
Why nine historical regions instead of Romania's current counties?
Romania's history is usually told region by region — Transilvania, Maramureș, Muntenia, and so on — rather than by its 41 present-day administrative counties, so the map follows that same, more familiar grouping.
Why are some regions empty?
The map is still being filled in region by region — thanks for exploring early. Check back as more attractions get added.
Where do the photos and historical details come from?
Attraction photos are hotlinked from Wikimedia Commons, a public repository of freely licensed images. The short histories were researched from publicly available historical and touristic information about each site.
I found a mistake, or want to suggest an attraction — what do I do?
Reach out through the Contact page — corrections and suggestions are welcome.
Is this an official tourism resource?
No — Roamania is an independent personal project, not affiliated with any tourism board or government agency.
