About Roamania
Roamania is an independent, non-commercial project built to make Romania's nine historical regions easier to discover — one interactive map, one region at a time.
Rather than the country's 41 present-day counties, the map is organized around Romania's nine historical regions — Transilvania, Maramureș, Muntenia, Oltenia, Moldova, Bucovina, Banat, Crișana, and Dobrogea — the way the land's own history is usually told. Click a region to zoom in and see its castles, fortresses, monasteries, and hidden gems.
The goal is to surface more than the handful of sites most visitors already know — Bran, Peleș, Corvin's Castle — and give lesser-known fortresses, monasteries, and natural landmarks the same spotlight, each one tagged as well known or a hidden gem.
The map is still being filled in region by region, so some areas have more attractions listed today than others.
